Berol 12 oil pastels
We always have lots of art and craft products in the house and since Little Miss has started an art club, it seems that she has been doing quite a bit of work using pastels.
I picked these up for just over £1 form a local shop, so immediately they were going to be good value.
They come packaged in a flattish cardboard box with information about the crayons on the back, and which slides open to reveal the crayons lying next to each other. I thought they would have been individually compartmentalised but surprisingly they just lie next to each other. The crayons are about two inches in length and whilst not overly chubby they are thick enough so that they don't snap as soon as any drawing pressure is put on to them. They are all covered in a layer of paper which can be torn off as the crayon is used; we find it best to just tear off a little of the paper as necessary so that the whole crayon is not exposed.
These pastels are able toproduce immediate bright results on papers of all colours and are even nice and bright on black paper. So far Little miss has used them to try out a variety of techniques water resist and colour blending as well as just using them to colour in. they blend nice and easily just by rubbing the finger over them so there are no harsh lines.
We have the 12 pack box but these are also available in a pack of 24 crayons. However, in the pack we bought, and for what they are needed for there is a good range of colours which are :Red, Orange, Bright Yellow, Deep Yellow, Grass Green, Ultramarine, Prussian Blue, Purple, Pink, Chestnut, Black, and White.
These have proved to be excellent value. Great quality crayons which don't just wear down quickly and so far we have had no snappings.
I would recommend these for anyone wanting to try out new art techniques.
