Crayola Anti Dust Assorted Chalk
Advantages: Cheap, colourful, better than many others
Disadvantages: Not completely dust free
For my daughters third birthday she received a chalk board, to go with this she received a selection of chalks. As well as receiving the Crayola white chalks she received this pack of Crayola multi-coloured chalk that is the focus of this review.
The chalk comes packaged in a relatively simple card box which is decorated in the traditional Crayola yellow and green colours with the Crayola logo on the front. The box also has a small open at the front where you are able to see the contents.
The chalk set costs around the £1 mark on amazon, for this you get 12 coloured chalks, the main colours being; blue, red, yellow, green, purple and brown. Crayola suggests that the chalk is anti-dust. This is supposed to mean that there will be less mess involved with the overall activity. This statement is both true and false. It's true in the sense that the chalk does not flake and fall all over the ground whist colouring on the chalking board but it's false in a sense that my daughter still ends up with dust all over her.
I think, no matter what chalk it is its going to make a mess, these ones are better than many others that we have used but the chalk does still transfer to hands whilst colouring, this then means (for my daughter anyway) that there will be chalk hand prints all over her clothes and also over any other surface within the vicinity. But as I said, I think this is unavoidable with any chalk so just don't be expecting a miracle product if you buy this chalk as you will be left disappointed.
Saying all of that I do think that this is a great set of chalk for a pound, the quality is better than most others as the chalks don't snap as easy, they are a lot stronger which for my daughter is an excellent quality to have as she is not exactly delicate with her drawings. But again, it's the same principle as above really as they can and do snap it's just that they are slightly stronger.
My daughter really likes using her chalk and she enjoys the wide variety of colours that are provided. My daughter is easily able to use the chalks and it doesn't take much pressure for them to be applied to the chalking board. The colours come out looking the same as they do on the box, they are nice and bright and individual colours are easily detectable.
The chalks last for a very long time, ours don't look much shorter than they started off and my daughter uses them a lot. The chalks are also easy to clean off clothes, skin and of course of the chalking board itself. The chalks are recommended for ages 3+ which I would definitely agree with as the chalks are rather thin and I don't think a child under that age would be able to hold the chalks in the correct way to apply it to the board.
I would definitely recommend these, they are as cheap as many other brands and in my opinion they are just that little bit better.
Summary: The perfect chalk
