Advantages: Bright colours!

Disadvantages: No paper sleeve

My daughter loves colouring and has previously had the crayola triangle crayons, however when she started walking she managed to break the majority of the pack. I was browsing in Tesco and I saw a pack of 8 of the these jumbo crayons for £1.88. They are described as being suitable for 12 months and over.

The crayons come in a small yellow box. I have kept the box as we keep these crayons in our bag for when we are out and about. The crayons are described as being larger than normal making them less likely to break and the perfect size for little hands.

Through the front of the box I could see that the colours looked bright. The box contained red, orange, yellow, blue, green, purple, brown and finally black. When I opened the box I noticed that unlike other crayola crayons these have no paper sleeve. The crayons are small so they are the perfect size for toddler hands. They are about 2 inches long with a larger than normal nib. The crayons appeared very bright in colour.

The first time we used them was in a restaurant and my daughter was thrilled to discover as they are so chunky you can stand them up on their ends on the table which she loves to do. As with other Crayola crayons these were really bright and vivid on the oaper. They also require very little effort to colour. We have found in the past that cheap crayons are too faint on the paper. Even though these crayons are small when we colour together I can manage to use them quite comfortably. We have had our box for about 3 months now and despite regular use there has been hardly any 'wear' on the crayons. The box is a bit battered and I have had to use sticky tape to fix it but despite this we still carry them everywhere. We not only use them to colour but also to pick out and learn colours. The only downside I have noticed is that as the crayons have no paper sleeve that when they are in the box the colour transfers from one crayon to another it's not so bad as it ruins the crayon but yellow in particular has dots of every other colour on it. The lack of a paper sleeve also means that I don't find there is much grip when I use them. I can't say this seems to have affected my daughter. The crayons have also survived several trips off the side of the highchair onto a tiled floor and none have snapped. My daughter hasn't chewed any so I can't comment on how they would stand up to a toddlwr munching them. They are reassuringly non toxic however. One final thing is on the box it doesn't state if the crayons are washable which it did on lrevious ones we had used. My daughter has coloured on her toy box once and I found it came off easily with a wet wipe leaving no permanent mark.

Overall these are great little crayons we like them so much we have bought a classroom sized pack with 144 in from Amazon for £10.88 so we now have a huge selection of colours and plenty of spares to leave up nanny's house. I would throughly recommend these crayons.

Summary: Great crayons for little hands!
