Good quality colouring book with bonus of stickers. A nice change from normal but no "wow" factor

My four year old son was bought this colouring book as a christmas present. It is marketed as a "colouring and sticker book" where you can "create wacky designs"! There are different varieties of the book available - we have the "animals" one, whereas the one illustrated is the "people" one. Apart from the subject matter there is no real difference.

As with most crayola art and craft products, the quality of this book is good. The cover is made from sturdy board and the paper is thick and crisp. There are 24 pictures to colour in, and a double page of facial features (eyes, mouths etc. to stick onto them once they are coloured. The features are quite big, so easy for little ones to stick. The only real problem is that the activity is a bit basic. Basically, it is a normal colouring in book without facial features, and you stick those on. Not sure the "wacky" on the front is really the right term. My son has completed a few of them (although he is a child who tends to stick too many features on the first ones, not really colour them in properly and then run out of interest and stickers towards the end of the book. I do feel that there is good skill development from the activity though - the though process of "where does the mouth go?" etc. is valuable, as it the fine motor skill development from placing the stickers in the right place on the faces.

Overall, it is a simple colouring book with the bonus of stickers, but a good quality version at that.

      A great crafty activity book

I was ordering some presents for parties that my son was going to be attending over the next few weeks and one of the items that I bought was the Crayola funny faces book. I thought that the books would be something that my son would also enjoy and so I picked up a couple for him too.

The books can be purchased in either animal or people varieties as far as I am aware but them theme is very much the same throughout both of the books in that they are basically a colouring and sticker book.

The books are made by Crayola and so I expected them to be of very good quality and I have to say I wasn't disappointed. The books are around the A4 size and have a glossy looking and colourful front cover which shows a character you may find in the book. We are told that the book is a colouring and sticker book in various languages and that we can use it to create wacky designs.

In the book there are twenty four pages to colour, each of which is on thick good quality paper and is printed with bold black ink which really stands out on the page. What is different about this book compared to some other colouring books is that the face of the character or animal is quite large and certainly the focus of the page. The faces are also blank and the reason for this is that in the centre of the book there is a sheet of stickers featuring facial features allowing the child to create their own funny face. I see no reason why the child could not also draw on their own face instead of using the stickers if they wished to do so.

My son has had a lot of fun with these books and I have to say that even I have laughed out loud at some of his creations!

He is able to peel off the stickers in the middle of the book independently and without them ripping as they seem to peel off quite easily which is obviously a good thing. My son has had sticker books before where the stickers are virtually impossible for a child to remove without them ripping and this can be disheartening as well as frustrating for him and so I am glad that this is not the case with this book. The stickers are bright and colourful and some are funny to look at too.

My son really enjoys getting creative with this book and taking some time to colour in his creation fully too which I like as it means he is making full use of the book rather than just quickly sticking stickers on each page and then that is it. He enjoys making a picture complete before moving on to the next which is nice to see. I think the book makes an excellent rainy day activity but I also think it is a good option for when you are travelling too and I plan to pack one of these to occupy my son on our train journey to London in August.

I picked up the books from amazon for £2.49 each which included free delivery and I think this is a very reasonable price to pay for this product as it feels excellent quality and it is something my son enjoys doing. I am sure that most children aged three plus would enjoy doing this book and I think is makes an excellent addition to any arts and crafts toys they may already own.

Thank you for reading my review!

        Great for a rainy day

For rainy days one of my children's most enjoyed activities are sticker books. As they can be quite expensive for 1 time uses I try to find ones with re usable stickers in them so that we can maximise the fun out of them. We paid £1.99 for this book at our local independent toy shop.At the start of the book are two pages all of different eyes ears noses and mouths for little ones to use throughout the book as they see fit making up strange combinations of faces.

Throughout the book there are pages where there are pre drawn faces and the child has to use the stickers to make up the face of this person weather it be big rabbits teeth a small smile a clowns nose the child decides what stickers they can use. The stickers are all reusable so they peel of very easy and can be used again on the next face the child comes across or they can use new stickers and make a completely new face.

As the faces are just templates on white paper they can be coloured in by little one to make them more fun. Then the child can choose if they would like to draw a face on the template use stickers or have a mix of both.

My children of 1 at the time and 3 loved them they were great fun and let there imagination run free. They could use them to play on there own or together to make faces more colourful and fun. The stickers are really good at being reused most lasted about 5 uses before ripping or not sticking which is good for a lot of other sticker books we have used. There are 4 stickers that are still being used now 6 months later so it is the same face made over and over now by the children.

I would definitely recommend these book there great at keeping little ones entertained and really do last well. There are 2 versions available in people faces and another in animal faces.
