I was very impressed with the Crayola Gigantic Colouring Book and think it's absolutely ideal as any child's first colouring book. It retails for £2.49 though Amazon frequently have it available for slightly less. I think that's an exceptionally good price for a brand name product that includes 160 pages of colouring fun.

Inside the thick book, you'll find a variety of bold black outlined pictures for little ones to colour in. They're all on thick paper that's got a bit of a sugar paper feel to it. It's important that the paper isn't too thin in kid's colouring books, as if it is then their pen marks go through to the other side. With this book, that hasn't been a problem.

The pictures are all good fun, with pictures including animals, children, teddy bears and basic scenes like the seaside etc. There's detail in every picture, but only a very basic amount to keep this easy and straightforward for young children to manage.

I think this is one of the better colouring books out there, and well worth paying that extra £1 for over a cheapy version from the pound shop. It's accessible to kids as young as two years old and will appeal to children up to five or six years old as well.
