Crayola Gigantic Colouring Book
Advantages: Nice pictures
Disadvantages: Not gigantic
Both me and my daughter love our craft sessions, from getting messy with glue and paint to simple things like scribbling on paper it all gets a massive thumbs up from us. Just recently my daughter has started to colour in pictures relatively well so I went out and bought this Crayola colouring book for her new found love of simple colouring.
I purchased this colouring book from Amazon for around the £3 mark, I think it would be widely available to purchase from other places that sell childrens craft supplies.
I originally thought the name suggested that the book would either be large in paper size or large in the amount of pages but it certainly doesn't look that gigantic to me compared to other colouring books I've come across. The book is the normal A4 paper size and contains 65 pages of different pictures to colour. With a picture on each side of the pages there are 130 different pictures to colour in in total.
The cover of the colouring book is made from quite a tough card. The inside pages are of an off white colour, this suggests to me that they may be recycled but I can't be sure. The pictures on the pages have quite a solid outline so it is easy to see where each bit needs to be coloured in. The pictures all have a cartoon like feel to them and are suitable for both girls and boys. I haven't come across the same picture twice in this book which can't be said for another colouring book we have. There is a vast array of different pictures to colour in, including pictures of royalty, animals and vehicles.
My daughter usually uses pencils in this book and they work well without ripping or tearing any of the pages. She did use her felt tips once but as they leaked through to the following page she hasn't used them in this book since. The thick black lines outlining the pictures mean that my daughter can colour in relatively well. She's just coming on three years old and will sit and colour in this book for a good 45 minutes before getting bored. A lot of the time my daughter starts colouring in one page, then will just stop after a little while and start on another, she always goes back to finish the ones she has already started so all is not lost.
As far as the colouring book goes, I don't think it is anything special compared to other cheaper colouring books. The quality of the paper isn't the greatest and the gigantic name is rather misleading. Although the pictures are nice, I don't think I'll be purchasing this again, I'd rather opt for a cheaper version.
Summary: Not that special
