Crayola Pip-Squeaks Mini Markers
Advantages: easy to hold
Disadvantages: takes a while to dry
Little things are always cuter than big things and these felt tips are no exception. They are small making it easier for the children to hold and look very dinky being so small! I regularly look after my niece and nephew so always have crayons and colours so we can colour and draw together.
==Price and availability==
A packet of these pipsqueak pens will cost around £2.20 and they are available at most supermarkets in the stationary department or shops such as WH Smiths.
These pens are very small and only stand around 7 cm tall. They are quite chunky and they have a large lid which is easy to take off and re cap. This pack contains 14 different pens. This includes many of the following colours, black, grey, light brown, brown, lilac, light blue, blue/violet, blue/green, green, yellow, orange, soft pink, violet/red and bright pink.
All the colours look very similar to the lids which are good as we had a packet of cheap felt tips where none of the colours looked like the lids. It was very misleading!
The pens are supposedly equipped with crush resistant nibs and so far, no one has managed to damage the nibs by pushing too hard with them. So this is definitely an advantage for the pens.
The colours are bright and vivid and look good on the paper. They work get on thick paper or colouring books and look rich and vibrant. When writing on things with a shiny surface, as the pens are water based they tend to not work as well and do not dry. This results in a very smudgy pale image so just make sure you chose what paper you will use first.
There are some great colours in the packet letting the children be as creative as they want to be. Obviously after a good colouring session with felt tips, they end up with it all over their hands. Luckily with a decent amount of soap and water the pen comes off. My only complaint is that the pen takes slightly longer than I expected to dry on the paper so the children get messy from the heels of their palms dragging across the wet colour. However, the bonus is that it comes off easily.
The pens are suitable for children over the age of 3. This is due to the easy to hold size and the large lids. Large lids are important as not only does it help get over the choking hazard, it also makes them easy to find!
These are very cute and seem to be lasting us quite a while. Therefore, I can fully recommend them!
Summary: Cute set of felt tip pens
