Advantages: Bright colours, good range, fine tip makes writing easy, washable
Disadvantages: None
We decided to buy pens for our daughter as she was beginning to be bought sets that had felt tip pens in which we had never allowed before but eventually we gave in however after she ruined a second top I told her I was putting them in the bin and buying her some washable ones instead. The pens cost me about £3.70 from Amazon which was the cheapest I found them and they had free delivery too.
The pens come in a bright yellow cardboard box which is the colour associated with Crayola, there are 12 pens in the box and we have ended up putting them into a pencil case as after a while the box got that battered that it no longer stayed closed. We bought the Crayola brand as I remember it being a great brand when I was a girl and I trusted the claim that the pens were washable. We choose the fine tip option of pens for our daughter as she is learning her letters so we felt these would be easier for her to write with.
Inside the box you get 12 pens which are black, grey, red, yellow, orange, pink, lilac, purple, light green, dark green, light blue and dark blue which I think is a wide range of colours and I don;t see why any other colours would be necessary. The pens are about as thick as a standard pencil so they are easy to hold and write with whilst remaining control over them although my daughter still manages to get pen everywhere.
The pens nibs are pretty strong and I had expected my daughter to split the nib as she was quite heavy handed to begin with but the nibs are still going strong even after a few months now. The colours are bold and strong and of course the main thing is they are washable. The pens wash from clothing no problem and with a little soap and water they wash away from the skin too all except the black which I have to try and wash from my daughters skin on a night and then rewash on a morning to fully remove it as after the first wash it just turns purple.
I think these are great pens and well worth paying a little extra for, my daughter is happy with the pens and she loves making people cards and being able to write in them too, I have decided i am sticking with the Crayola brand for arts and crafts from now on as they are brilliant quality.
Summary: A great set
