Advantages: long lasting, fun, good quality, cheap
Disadvantages: none
When looking at a product like this, it could be assumed that they are for younger children. They are coloured pencils that are cheap and cool and perfect for kids to have fun colouring with. But, hey - twistables are for everybody!
I used these at high school and they were great. I originally bought them for art class, but soon I was using them at any time - for quick doodles, writing on posters and for when I drew and coloured in my spare time. Obviously, Crayola are a well known brand and these twistables can definitely be trusted.
What I really like about them is they last a long time, and it is also more fun to twist them rather than have to sharpen them when they get blunt. Because you can twist them, you can decide how long you want the pencil tip to be, which is ideal for gaining accuracy when colouring, and I imagine great for children who are learning to colour more neatly. They also don't have the risk of breaking, like a typical coloured pencil, which in my opinion makes these twistables of much better quality.
They come in a range of colours - purple, red, orange, yellow, green blue..the usual, and the shades are ideal, but what I personally loved about these pencils were how they felt in my hand. Because they have a plastic coating, I found that they were easier to use because I could get a better grip around them. It's alsoa bonus for the little ones because it reduces the risk of them chewing the pencil, which we all know is a bad habit :).
The pencils do however in my opinion resemble crayons more than they do actual pencils, so not as much pressure is needed to apply when colouring in. Ideal for making the colours last longer.
They come in a typical yellow and green crayola packet, and there is 10 pencils altogether. They can be bought for as little as £2 in any arts and craft shop or online. I have however seen them in shops like poundland and pound stretcher too, so they are easy to get hold of, and are a sweet bargain.
If you are young (or older!) and looking for fun pencils to colour with, that last a long time, are high quality, and a good alternative to a typical pencil, then this product is more than ideal. They are in my opinion more appealing due to them being 'twistables' and they save the time of having to do the old chore of sharpening them, and they are great for any type of art work. I would definitely recommend them.
