Advantages: Easy for the kids to use and not easy to snap

Disadvantages: Quite thick end and cant be sharpened

On a recent trip to mothercare I came across these and bought them as they were on sale at £1.49 from £3.49. I wouldnt have bought them otherwise as I normally visit the pound shop for kids art stuff.
When the kids seen them they were bery excited. There is a hard plastic outer case on each pencil and appear to be similar to the old propelling pencils with a spring inside.
As you turn the outer case the pencil lead starts to appear. My 4 and 5 year old very quickly grasped how to twist them to get the lead to come out so they could start colouring in. The lead itself is quite thick so colouring in fine detail is very tricky but there is no issue with lead breaking and having to sharpen the pencils. That said you cant really get them into a point so it is a thick pencil line that it draws.
They seem to have lasted for ages compared to the cheaper crayons that we usually buy.
Crayola are well known for quality produce and this is one they should be proud of.

Summary: Is it a crayon or a pencil, whatever it is the kids love them
