Colouring fun

My little girl has always loved her crafts and is actively encouraged by me as I love an excuse to do a bit of colouring in! she received this set of pens many months ago and it is still going strong.

Inside the small cardboard box is a set of eight felt tip pens. The pens are white with an illustration on the main body of the pen and a lid that corresponds with the colour of the felt tip. Colours are black, brown, blue, green, red, orange, purple, yellow.

Chunky felts

These felt tips are quite chunky so good for smaller hands that are just getting used to holding pens and scribbling. The nibs are also quite thick so these aren't designed for any precision scribbling! The felt tips work beautifully however - the colour is really pigmented and goes on smoothly.

After a year of on and off use, none of these pens has run out and all the nibs are still intact (unlike some other felt tips we have where the nibs have got all squashed or even gone 'inside' the pen with a bit of over-vigorous scribbling!). There is also no strong smell unlike with other pens, which is of course a bonus as they are designed for young children.

A clean dream

Obviously one of the selling points of these pens is the fact they are washable, and I can definitely vouch for this. Ink has ended up on hands, as well as arms and legs (my daughter likes to colour herself in on occasion when my back is turned) and it really does wash off no problem. We've also had a few rogue scribbles end up on clothes and again these have washed off, using my normal 30 degree wash cycle, and I have never spotted any traces of pen being left behind after a wash. The ink also wipes easily off our wooden floors!

All in all this is a great set of pens that does exactly what they say they will do. The colours are bright and fun, and they wash off different surfaces with ease! They are great for younger artists although I find now that my daughter is three and trying to colour in pictures without going over the lines, she prefers to use thinner felt tips. But for big, bold, fun scribbles these are just ideal.
