Disney's Tangled Colour Me Pascal
Advantages: Fun, creative and a lovely plush
If you have read my older reviews you may be aware that my daughter is a big fan of the film Tangled. Whilst flicking through the Argos book shortly before her fourth birthday I came across a toy called Colour Me Pascal which I was pretty sure she would love... and I was right!
Pascal is a little green Chameleon from the film Tangled, who often changes colour. He is Rapunzel's companion and is always by her side. The Colour Me Pascal came in a sealed box (although I have seen the very same toy in an open fronted box) with a photo of the toy on the front. I brought it from Argos last year for £10 which I thought was a very reasonable price (I have also seen them being sold in Tesco), although I'm not sure if they are still available - it might be worth having a look around online.
Colour Me Pascal consists of a green coloured plush Pascal toy and 4 coloured washable felt tip pens - yellow, blue, red and green (with 'Happy', 'Sad', 'Excited' and 'Calm' written on each one). The toy is very cute and looks just like Pascal does in the film (big mouth, huge eyes, green spine, funny feet and curly tail), there is no mistaking him.
I like the idea of this toy and find it very appropriate because it allows children to colour Pascal all different colours and patterns, and in the film he frequently transforms himself in to lots of different colours and patterns. It's quite an original toy too. My daughter was thrilled to receive it for her birthday and didn't put it down for a good fortnight! A year on and she still regularly plays with him. Whenever she puts on her Rapunzel dress she always digs Pascal out of her toy box and puts him on her shoulder like Rapunzel does in the film! Pascal is surprisingly soft and squishy which makes him the perfect plush too - great for cuddles. He is a good size (approximately 13 inches long and 6 inches tall) which gives plenty of space for colourful creations (every part of him can be drawn on). My daughter usually covers him in hearts, stars, flowers, rainbows and other pretty things... but occasionally will just scribble all over him and give him a moustache! The colours are vibrant and she loves the fact she has a toy that she's allowed to draw all over. When it's time to clean Pascal up, we just pop him inside a pillow case and stick him in the washing machine. He always cleans up well so my daughter has a brand new canvas to start from each time. The colours don't run in the washing machine and they wash off skin and clothes easily enough. He can be tumble dried, although we usually just air dry him.
I can't see any downsides to this toy other than the pens will dry out if the lids are left off. Our pens are still going strong but if/when they run out I will probably just buy some washable felt tips and hope for the best!
I recommend Colour Me Pascal to any young Tangled fan.
Summary: Great toy for young Tangled fans.
