ELC 8 Stencils Set
Advantages: Great range of letters and shapes, great price, strong
These stencils were bought just before Christmas as a stocking filler for my four year old little girl, the stencils were great value costing £4.50 for a packet of 8 from the Early Learning Centre.
The stencils came packaged in a plastic wrap which once open is no good for storage so we had to find a tub to keep them in otherwise there would be no chance of our daughter being able to find them all. There was a little piece of cardboard in the wrapping stating that these stencils would encouage creativity and help your child learn to write, the stencils are aimed at children aged 3-8 years although I can't see any reason why a child above 8 shouldn't use them.
The stencils are made of hard plastic and each one is about 5 inches square with rounded corners which makes them safer for children, the stencils are yellow, lilac, red, blue, purple, jade, orange and green so the colours encourage your child to want to play with them. The stencils provide a very wide range of things for your children to draw which I was very impressed with for the price,
Red = 6 different vehicles - Sophie was very impressed with this one as there is the shape of an ambulance on it and she loves all the emergancy services,
Green and purple = animals
Orange = shapes to make flowers
Blue = Christmas and easter shapes
Yellow = Geometric shapes
Lilac = the alphabet
Jade = Lower case alphabet
My daughter loves these stencils and she finds them pretty easy to use, the stencils have a small lip on one side which helps little hands to keep them steady. My daughter took a little while to understand the idea of using the stencil to get an outline and to begin with she would just hold it in place and colour the shape in but she has now worked out how to use them properly. Some of the stencils have that many shapes on them that it can be difficult for a little one to hold them still enough as theres not mush plastic between the shapes to push down on. Sophie loves using the letters to write all the names of the people in our family and she loves making pictures with vehicles and animals on them. I think this is a great value set which she has had alot of play out of and there is no damage to the stencils, I would recommend these stencils.
Summary: A creative must have
