ELC Blackboard Eraser
Advantages: Works well, cheap
We recently purchased an art centre for my little girl from The Early Learning Centre. This is basically an easel which has two sides to it, one side is a wipe board which you need to sue special markers on and the other side is an old fashioned blackboard that you need to use chalk on. As such then, we needed to get her a blackboard eraser so she could get rid of her chalk marks on the board when she wants to start a new creation.
This blackboard eraser is much different from the blackboard erasers of years past that you used to get in schools. I remember these were fairly big heavy things with a wooden part on one side and quite a heavy duty felt material on the other side that cleared all the chalk dust away. If you were lucky that day the teacher would pick you to go outside and clean the blackboard erasers by banging them together and it was so fun to watch all the chalk dust go up in the air and create great big clouds of dust!
This blackboard eraser from The Early Learning Centre is plastic and has little indentations on the sides so it makes it easy for little hands to hold which is nice. The eraser os fairly small, about half the size of the old fashioned ones but as the art centre she uses this on is only small it doesn't need to be that big. The eraser is made of a foam material and is not as thick or hard as an old fashioned eraser. That being said though it really gets rid of chalk marks on a chalkboard well and gives my little girl a blank canvas to start drawing on again. The foam is really good as picking up the excess chalk dust as well so this doesn't really make that much mess in her room which is nice.
The eraser costs a very cheap £3 from The Early Learning Centre and is a nice little addition to the art centre or other chalk based activity you may do with your child.
