As anyone who has seen my earlier review on the yellow paint in this range will know, my son received an art centre for Christmas that we have equipped with various creative aids - including a number of different colours of paints. I love the convenience of ready mixed paint as it is just matter of pouring it out and being ready to go - which is ideal when you have an impatient toddler. Therefore, I knew that this is what I wanted to purchase.
I opted for a variety of colours from the Early Learning Centre's ready mix range, one of which was this blue colour. It costs £1 for 284ml and I had a 20% off voucher so I managed to get it for 80p, which seemed a real bargain to me. The paint comes is a clear plastic squeezy bottle, through which you can see the deep blue colour of the paint. The bottle has a basic product label on the front and a black plastic flip cap on top. This can be flipped up and the bottle squeezed to remove the paint and then pushed back down again to reseal. On first use, there is a foil seal below the cap that needs to be removed - on delivery, ours was already partially removed from the blue paint, so it had unfortunately leaked slightly. This makes me think that the flip lid is not the most secure and I always make sure that I store the paint upright to prevent any spillages.
When it comes to using it, the bottle is easily compressed and the paint comes out in a steady, controllable stream. I have some simple paint pots that I just squeeze some of the paint into and the brush can be dipped in and you are ready to go - it literally takes a matter of seconds to get the paint ready for using as it is ready mixed.
The blue is quite a deep blue - so ideal in colour for painting things like the sea but it can also be lightened easily with a bit of white paint to make it a nice shade for the sky, for example. It mixes nicely, evenly and quickly with other colours in this way and you can therefore get a variety of colours and shades for use using just a few colours - which is great value for money. The paint is quite thick and sticks to the brush easily for relatively easy and mess free transfer to paper. We have found that the shade of blue is ideal for use on both white and black paper as it stands out well on both. A little also goes a long way which means that the bottle of paint is lasting us a long time.
The paint also wipes off surfaces well and comes out of clothes easily - again a real positive when being used by young children! I think that the paint is great value, it is a lovely bright colour and extremely easy to use - highly recommended.
