Advantages: Great price, easy to use, durable, makes gluing easier
Disadvantages: None
For my daughters 5th birthday my Grandma asked me to help her put together a box of crafty bits for her even though she could probably stock a craft shop with what she has. One thing that she didn't have was glue spreaders and we used to use a lolly stick or paintbrush for using glue.
I found these spreaders on Amazon although you had to buy them in a pack of 10 which seemed a little too many in my opinion but considering they only cost about £2 for the pack it wasn't a bad price.
I remember glue spreaders from school and apparently these are still what the schools use according to my daughter although the ones I bought are bright pink in colour rather than the boring white ones we used to use at school.
The spreaders came packaged in a sealed plastic bag but the type that is unable to reseal so once they are open they are then loose although this didn't bothered us as they just go in the arts and crafts box with everything else.
The spreaders are made of hard plastic for the handle and have a flat end which is more flexible for the spreading. The spreaders are easy for little hands to handle although I find they are a little too small for adult hands. My daughter finds it easy to spread the glue but if your glue is too runny it does drip off the spreader so I have taught her how to scrape the excess glue off to prevent this.
My daughter loves that she now has something to use glue with properly and she loves the fact that she has pink spreaders since pink is her favourite colour. The spreaders are really easy to wash after use and if you forget to wash one the glue peels off really easily once it's dried. The spreaders are really good value and she has been using the same one since June and it is still going strong so I would say it is going to be a fair few years before she manages to get through her supply.
Summary: Easier than using a lolly stick
