      Galt colour changing pens

My three year old daughter absolutely loves drawing and making pictures and with these felt tip pens we can really colour with a difference. These are what she likes to call her "magic" pens as they change colour when you draw over them with the magic white wand!!

The pens are made by Galt and are called Paintastics Colour changing pens and we have the pack of Changing Rainbow Colours pens which consists of 5 different coloured pens and a magic wand. I found it interesting in the beginning when they called these "painting" pens as they are really jsut felt tip pens but I do have to say that the ink is very fluid and thick and probably a bit more like a paint than a felt tip. Plus, the end of the pen features a fine tip paint brush rather than a felt tip nip so I guess they are right when they say they are painting pens. The brush comes to a point so what we like about these pens is that you can make quite a thin line with them but you can also paint like you would with a regular small paint brush and creat thicker wavy lines. That way you can really make some interesting pictures and contrast different drawing styles.

The colours in the pack are purple, red, orange, green and black but the amazing thing is that, because they change colour when you write over them with the clear white pen, there are actually more than just five colours in this pack. The white pen actually has two ends to it and so makes the different colours change in two ways. For example, if you draw with the purple pen and then write over it with the white pen you will either see a nice bright pink colour appearing or you will get a blue colour. The pink is definitely the best colour change in this pack in my opinion. The nice thing is, you can see on the outside of the pen packaging what colour it will change as the purple pen has pink swirls and blue stars on it telling you the other colours. The same is true of the other pens and they change to yellow, pink, red and green.

What my little girl finds fun is that she will colour in a whole page with just the white pen or make circles and different things ont he page and then when we use the coloured felt tip pens on the page you never know what colours are going to come out becasue she has already marked the page with the white pen.

Like anything of this sort, if you forget to replace the lids the pens will dry out and unfortunately this has happened to a few of our pens, even with me badgering my little girl, telling her to remember to replace the lids whenever she has finished drawing with them. However, I would definitely buy more of these pens to add to our collection as they are so much fun.
