Galt Party Kit
Advantages: It's got nail varnish and stickers
Disadvantages: transfers don't transfer
Witha party almost every weekend for Little Miss, she was keen to try this pack out for one of the most recent parties. At £3.99, it wasn't going to break the bank, and with one of her friends coming to the party with us, we thought it would be a good idea to get them into party mode.
~~What is it and what do I get?~~
The pack comes in a small cardboard box with lift up flap. The box is quite appealing to young children who like a bit of sparkle, showing as it does the contents (all obviously perfectly applied).
Open up the pack and the goodies are revealed in a plastic tray. There are 2 nail varnishes, in very small bottles, these being a pearlescent pink colour and a silver sparkle colour, tattoo transfers (butterflies, hearts and the like, some small, and some to emulate an arm bracelet), stick on gems , nail stickers and two pink sparkly butterfly hair clips. There is also an instruction booklet with the instructions in several languages. The leaflet gives details of the ingredients, and informs the party person how to apply the transfers, as well as giving ideas on how to do nails (a whole sentence)
~~Price and Availability~~
As I mentioned, the pack cost £3.99. We bought ours from Toys R Us, but these kits are quite widely available.
There are also other kits of the same type, sold in the same type of packaging, and are what I would describe as pocket money buys.
These kits, all priced at £3.99, include:
Friendship Barids Craft Kit
Cool Cards Craft Kit
Fab felt Craft Kit
French Knitting Craft Kit
Nail Art Craft Kit
Make A face Craft Kit
~~Who is it for?~~
I would imagine anyone who wants to use it, although there is a warning that it is not suitable for children under the age of 3 years because of small parts.
James galt and co, Cheshire, England
~~What we thought~~
I like the idea of there being fairly decent looking craft kits for children, at prices which are affordable. It means that they can "have a go" at different activities, and decide whether they enjoy it or not.
This, however, was bought to sparkle up two little ladies pre party, so we naturally had to open it as soon as we got home. Keen to apply the tattoos, we had to read the instructions carefully; it was no use me telling them that I knew how to apply them, the fact that they are in Year 2 and CAN read meant that we read them together. Armed with our newly found knowledge, we applied the transfers, added water, pressed and waited....and waited...and applied more water...and waited. Easy to get the picture. Regardless of how much water was applied, the transfers would not transfer onto the skin. Disappointed doesn't describe it....two small ladies waiting for transfers to transfer! We did keep trying, changing temperature of water etc, but to no avail, andby the time we gave up, their arms had gone a tad cold!
The other items were usable, and nail stickers were applied, as well as the little jewels, but the initial disappointment didn't abate, and the fact that the other items worked did nothing to raise the profile of the kit in their eyes.
did expect the kit to be of a higher quality because Ihave bought Galt kits before, and they have always done what they claim to do. For the reason that the transfers didn't transfer, i won't recommend this pack. Yes, it's cheap, but so are perfectlt usable transfers etc bought in the bargain stores!
Thanks for reading.
