~~ Background ~~ After finishing the bulk of my Christmas shopping, I was after a few small gifts for my children as stocking fillers. I didn't want to spend a fortune on something, so I didn't know quite what to buy. I had brought a few small cars to go in Gareth's stocking, some sweets and chocolate, but was on the lookout for something else. I popped into 'Toy 'R Us' in Cardiff for some inspiration. I spent a while wandering around the aisles, and then I discovered the ideal stocking filler - Play Doh - or to be more precise, a small tub of Play Doh. This small tub was an absolute bargain at £1.49. I had already bought some of the ... Read the complete review

Last weekend, I came home from university only to be told that my mum had volunteered me to look after my five year old cousin for the day. My heart sank when I looked out of the window and, seeing the rain lashing down, the sudden panic of 'What an earth is he going to do all day?!' set in. Grabbing my umbrella, I legged it to our local Tesco, ready to buy anything that might remotely amuse a five year old. After stressing further about the fact that I had no idea what my cousin was in to, suddenly I saw the answer. A shining crate of yellow pots in front of me- Play-Doh! As a child, Play-Doh was always something that I loved playing with, making models with ... Read the complete review

Hasbro Play-Doh...... My son has just turned 16 months old and I have recently been taking him to my local leisure centres crèche where the staff informed me that he likes nothing more than playing with Play-Doh. Before this time I had naturally assumed he would try and eat the stuff but they assured me this was not the case. Upon hearing that Play-Doh was Jack's favourite thing to do at the crèche I popped straight down to my local Woolworth's to pick up a tub or two. I assumed the age range on the Play-Doh was 3+ but surprisingly on the single tubs, it states 2+. This age range is not that far away from Jack's actual age, which reassured ... Scared to buy Play-doh, scared for my carpets, scared for my sofa, just plain scared! However my son (2.5 yrs) was under the weather, and I wanted something that would keep him amused and entertained and out of my hair for a while. So on a wet Sunday afternoon I was in my local Woolworths, when I saw a set of 4 tubs of Play-Doh, and I finally gave in, in the hope that this could be my answer for a peaceful afternoon. The Set of 4 contained these colours: RED, YELLOW, BLUE and WHITE. Bit bemused by this choice at first, but all became clear later. I paid my pennies (£2.99) or you can purchase single tubs for 99p, and took my buy home. ... Read the complete review

My five year old daughter had some money to spend at Asda on Saturday. Besides buying yet another baby doll for her collection <sigh> and a pink cuddly rabbit, she wanted to get some playdough too. At first, I wasn't sure, because we have had a few disasters with this in the past. I remember stained carpets with ingrained soft stuff that will not come up. I recall breaking a vacuum cleaner once, when it gorged itself silly on bits of playdough and overheated, irreparably. I can also remember playdough being mixed with water and stuck on a window. Hmmm. But each time I buy some new (or make it myself), I hope things will turn out different. The ... Read the complete review
