      Ideal for a craft project

I wanted to buy Jayden a toy box for his bedroom but as I am slightly obsessed with my home and everything in it being colour coordinated I decided to buy a plain pine storage box and decorate it myself. We bought a flat pack pine box from our local Homebase and I painted it the same colour as Jayden's room. Whilst it looked nice it didn't really look like a piece of furniture for a child's room so I took a look in Hobby craft and bought some foam shapes and numbers, I'm reviewing the foam shapes.

The shapes I chose are trains, they came in a pack of 30, far too many for what I needed but they only cost £4.99 and they wont be wasted as we can use them when Jayden's a bit older. The shapes came attached to a card with just a plastic cover over them. The card is mainly green in colour and has the Hobby craft logo on it along with 30 Train Foam Shapes, big fun for everyone. The foam trains are done in the shape of an old fashioned engine and have a slightly cartoonish appearance. Each shapes measures approximately 16cm's x 13cm's and they come in 6 colours, yellow, lime green, purple, red, orange and blue. Although there's a nice choice of colours in the pack I personally feel the train shapes tend to be more for boys.

To stick the foam train shapes onto the wood I used some foam glue (previous review), to be honest it seemed just like ordinary white glue that I used to use in school. I stuck several of the trains onto the box following the instructions. I also stuck numbers on the trains so each engine had a number. The shapes stuck really well both on the lid of the box and around the sides and the over all effect at the end was really good, even though I say it myself! Although the train shapes are quite thin they still have a slightly squidgy feel which I like.

I would certainly recommend the Train Foam Shapes from Hobby craft, I got a lot of pieces for my money. They make great decorations for children's furniture and would be ideal for craft projects for children. The colours are nice and bright and appealing for little ones. I only used 10 of the trains so have put the rest away for when Jayden's older. These simple shapes made the storage box look really nice and ideal for a little boys bedroom.
