Picture the scene: Saturday in IKEA, red mist descending, queues into the next Swiss canton, lots of people getting in the way. My patience is down to its last desperate hold on sanity before I embark on some sort of crazed meltdown. We turn into the children’s department to catch our breath and to let Olivia out of the trolley for a bit of a run around. She heads straight for the art department and this easel and spends ten minutes happily (and quietly) creating some of her unique art. Impressed with the quietness of our offspring we sling one into the trolley, take a deep breath and head for the tills. How easy was it to set up? Remove from ... Read the complete review

I wanted to get an easel for my daughter for Christmas as she enjoys drawing on things a lot and I wanted an outlet for her creativity which she could access at any time. I was initially reluctant to buy one as they seemed to be very expensive and I couldn't justify spending £40 on one for her. When I was in Ikea with my husband, we spotted these and decided to get one of these as they were such good value in comparison! ---About the product: The Mala Easel from Ikea is a wooden framed easel with a chalkboard (blackboard) on one side and a dryboard (whiteboard) on the other. It has a shelf that can hold the chalks or whiteboard pens which has a border ... Read the complete review

On a trip to Ikea last year i spotted the Mala Easel stood up in the entrance, and upon having a closer look i noticed the price was only £14.99 which seemed like a bargain as other easels i had seen were much more expensive. After a few minutes of umming and ahhing as my daughter was only to be turning two, i decided to buy one and put it away for her birthday, i also bought my friends little boy one for his 4th birthday. The easel is light coloured, and though i don't know what type of wood it is, it feels a little flimsy but it is in fact quite sturdy (if that makes sense). On one side of the easel is a blackboard surface and on the other is a whiteboard. ... Read the complete review

I was looking for some new lounge furniture a few months ago, and happened upon the Ikea website. Along with some of the furniture I wanted to look at I spotted this easel for the bargain price of £12.99. I immediately thought it wouldn't stand up to much at that price and my other half dismissed it straight away. We were thinking of getting our daughter an easel for her to do drawing on, but weren't sure which one to get. As we were paying a visit to Ikea anyway, we passed a stack of these easels in the warehouse on the way to the tills. I went to have a look and was suitable surprised at how sturdy they were looking on the floor. I called my other half over and he ... Read the complete review

I brought this easel for my son last Christmas as he is really into drawing pictures and practising his writing of numbers. I had a £5 Ikea gift card to use and whilst I was pottering around the store I came across these easels at a reasonable price of £14.99. I decided to return nearer Christmas to purchase it which I did. They also sold a box of mixed coloured chalks at 99p and big rolls of paper at £2.99 which I brought to go with it. Something for others to note is that if you are purchasing for a gift then once you have paid you can use the brown paper near checkouts to wrap the easel, easier if two of you though due to size and shape.
