Ikea Mala Easel
Advantages: child has endless hours of doodling
Disadvantages: None that can think of.
I brought this easel for my son last Christmas as he is really into drawing pictures and practising his writing of numbers.
I had a £5 Ikea gift card to use and whilst I was pottering around the store I came across these easels at a reasonable price of £14.99. I decided to return nearer Christmas to purchase it which I did. They also sold a box of mixed coloured chalks at 99p and big rolls of paper at £2.99 which I brought to go with it.
Something for others to note is that if you are purchasing for a gift then once you have paid you can use the brown paper near checkouts to wrap the easel, easier if two of you though due to size and shape.
This easel has a light coloured wooden frame which slots into the bracket on the shelf so it stays erect and stands safely and secure.
One side of easel is a black chalk board and the other side is a white board for use with washable marker pens.
I must admit I have not let my son loose with marker pens on the white board as I fear if they go onto something other then the board like a wall it won't be too washable.
The chalk board side has a little shelf tray with depth for holding chalks etc. I gave my son a sponge for cleaning the board which is also kept in this part. The board wipes clean easily with a little bit of water on the sponge.
In between the two sides at the bottom there is a wooden rod where you can insert the roll of paper if you have it. It can then be fed up through the top and hung down one of the sides for use when painting or drawing with pencils or crayons. Again the shelf tray comes in handy for holding pots of paints and water. Always supervise your child when using else you may end up with painting or chalks somewhere other then the board or paper.
I've found this easel to be a great buy and is constantly being used even if by myself to leave messages or pictures on it for my son lol.
It is good for helping them with their writing as you can write something for them to copy, I do this with letters of the alphabet, If they go wrong it can be rubbed out easily.
We keep the easel up all the time and it doesn't take up too much room and is light to move when hoovering around it.
This was £14.99 well spent in my opinion and would recommend it as perfect for a child aged 3 and above.
Summary: A good buy at a good price.
