My eldest daughter loves art and she has started going and staying the cvaravan with my parents so my Mam bought her this set as she felt it would be a good set for her to use whilst travelling to and from the site.
She bought the set in a shop in Newcastle and I have never seen them on sale anywhere however I have managed to find it on Amazon for the purpose of this review and the set costs £7.05 at the moment with free delivery although my Mam says she seems to think she paid nearer £10.
The set comes packaged in a pretty big box which really there was no need for, the set was pictured on the front showing the case when it is open and the contents inside. With the packaging being a simple box it was very easy to open and the contents inside were in a plastic packet.
The case is made of a strong thick material and is brightly coloured in green, blue and orange which personally I don't find very attractive as I simply don't like green and orange together. The case zips around the edges and when it is opened it will only open as far as a right angle as there are triangles of fabric between the top and bottom stopping it opening any further.
The set comes with a number of art materials, it has 10 crayons, 10 pencils, 8 felt tips and an artists pad which is just a pad of plain white paper.
The case has a strap on it which you use to attached it to the seat of the car so that it holds open on your childs knee, the strap is very easy to use and is like a buggy fastening which pushes in and then when you press the two sides it will release again. I personally haven't used it in the car with my daughter but last time she went to the caravan she used it and she loved it, bringing lots of pictures for me when she came back home and we have already had to put another pad of paper inside for her.
The case is durable and hardwearing and the art supplies has a pocket on the top half of the case to sit in which is great as it means they don't end up rolling all over the back seat of the car. A major drawback for me with this case is that the pens are not washable so when she uses it she takes her normal pens with her just incase of any accidents. The case sits on her knee well and it is strong enough that it doesn't bend when she puts pressure on it to draw her pictures.
Sophie is well impressed with her case and she asks to take it near enough everytime she goes in the car although generally the answer is no as we never seem to do more than a 10 minute journey but I know the case will be coming on holiday with us and I think it will be really useful.
The case is well worth £7 and would recommend it I would just replace the felt pens in it before use.
