Advantages: Progresses very quickly when you've worked out how to do it... if you last that long

Disadvantages: Really frustrating if you can't figure out the technique

Looks easy doesn't it. Well looks can be deceptive and in this case they definately are. The manufacturers claim its suitable for those aged 8 and older which made this a great gift for my nine year old daughters birthday.

The instructions are easy enough. Make a loop with the yarn, insert into hook, push hook through hole in canvas into hole above, pull yarn to left through hook closing latch, pull yarn through canvas. Simple. Only its not. Despite repeating this procedure several times the yarn refused to attach itself to the canvas. Once in a while we'd manage more by accident than anything else, but would be unable to do it again.

Once you've mastered the knack of this technique then it is very easy and it does progress remarkably quickly once you've got going but my daughter grew frustrated long before then. Having perservered I did evntually manage to finish the kit but found the twisting action involved in looping and hooking left me with wrist ache after half an hour.

It has to be the most disappointing craft kit I've ever had the misfortune of purchasing.
