Hours of fun to be had for very little money

I never fail to be amazed at how the simple things in life are able to entertain us. We are all just big kids at heart.

We bought three of the LB Balloon Making sets similar to the one in the photo you can see here, as a bit of fun for a party, paying just under £9 for them.

One of the parents had a go at demonstrating a variety of things you could make with them to get things started, but the kids ended up making all sorts of inventive things on their own in the end! It was great fun to watch the kids trying to make something out of the handful of balloons we gave them and even more fun to see the grown ups making a hash of having a go with them too.

      *********************************************************
The kits we bought to get the pumps and instruction booklets were made by LB. But they only had a few of the modelling ballons included in each set, there were perhaps 20 or 30 in each, in total. So we did have to get another 8 refill packs in the local £1 shop to go with the three pumps, other wise we would have run out of ballons in next to no time.

Everyone enjoyed blowing up ballons and making all sorts of clever balloon creations. A few of the children followed the instructions from the book, to make some interesting balloon animals. Hats were made too and proved to be very popular, as were swords, which can be made from just one balloon and some crafty twisting techniques.

The ballons that came with the kit were colourful and quite sturdy, if a little hard blow up with out being first stretched a little by hand. There were only enough balloons for a handful of makes in the pack, as you do get lots of wastage and popped balloons, when attempting to make something. So we did have to buy more. We had three of the simple instruction manuals to share around, as we had bought extra sets.

      ********************************************************
One thing I would say is that the noise from all the balloons being twisted, turned and tweaked into shape is enough to make your hair stand on end if there are several children making things, then there are the bangs and screams when someone pops their balloon. The fact that the sets came with hand pumps was great, they were easy enough to use, if a little tiring on the arms and hands.

The making of dogs, cats, butterflies, hats and flowers etc with just a handful of colourful balloons kept everyone entertained for ages and I would say that if you are thinking of doing something similar for a childrens party, it will go down a treat. 5 stars for balloon modelling in general and maybe 4 for the kit, which would have been better with a few more balloons in.

Children think you know how to do magic and let them think it!

This kit is almost identical to the one that I bought last christmas for my boys. I had to buy this when I saw it was because my son loved balloons so much and when he saw a clown he always wanted one made for him. Now I don't like clowns I have a very big fear of them so my son was never able to have one and I did feel sorry for him.

When I saw this in a cheap shop in my local town I couldn't resist it was only £2. It was packed with 50 different coloured balloons a pump and a book to show you how to make the models. I bought 3 packs of these one for each of my boys and one for me to get some practice in before christmas.

When I started with my pack I had to read the book, it told me how long to blow the balloons up what models could be made and where all the twists would go. I always thought it was had to do but it was supprisingly easy, I now know how to make a poodle without looking at the book. Myself and my partner have had alot of fun trying to see who could make the best models and would love to have another book of models to try some harder ones.

The ballons were a bit cheap the odd one burst as we were blowing them up or twisting them into shapes but majoity worked well. Eventually the pump broke which it lasted for as long as the ballons did which was lucky and the fact that I had bought 3 packs we were never without one. The book that came with it was very good at explaing how to make the models and was easy to understand.

I was impressed with this kit and for £2 it wasn't that bad when the pump and the odd balloon broke. This is great amuzement for the children because they love to see you make them and can not understand how it is done so they think you are very cleaver.
