Advantages: Create professional images using a combination of shades.
Disadvantages: Can be expensive to purchase.
Around this time last year I decided to start making hand-made cards. Having created all of my own wedding stationery a few month previous and making thank you cards for the bridesmaids and best men I realised it was a good stress reliever after a hard, long day at the office.
I quickly became a member of crafting forums and realised that there was plenty of items I needed to get to be able to develop my crafting abilities and one of these was to invest in some high quality pens or colouring pencils to use with digital images which could then be used on cards.
I had heard a lot about Copics and was keen to invest in some until I saw the price which was around £2 per colour and with so many shades to choose from it would cost a small fortune to expand my collection and a lot of money that I really didn't have but after explaining to my husband that I would like something like copics for my birthday he said to find out what other brands were available and to compare them, this meant relying on other people's opinions and those more experienced than me which I was quite happy to do.
I was disappointed that there was only 1 review on the pens and decided that I would have to ask people who I knew used them Promarkers and to view their work, I began to realise that promarkers and copics were very similar except at the current time they were half price in Hobbycraft £4.99 for a set of 5 shades.

Amethyst . Rose Pink . Cool Grey 4 . Black
The lowest price I have found this set is at Amazon for £12.95.
Each of the pen is double - ended, one end has a broad chisel end which is ideal for covering larger areas where as the other end is a fine bullet tip that is ideal for adding detail to your image, if you are a crafter or like using pens to create an art image then there are plenty of sites about to help with the shading and there is a blog specifically for Promarker Users which I have found helpful in creating beautiful images.
The pens are permanent markers and on thin paper or card will tend to bleed through to the underneath so I would recommend having a bleedproof marker pad underneath to prevent ruining your work surface.
The pens give a professional look and really add depth to your images and when you finally get the whole collection of pens you can create a fantastic shading effect and a truly professional image.
Although I got my packs half price they are definately worthwhile investment as will last for a long, long time and will give you a more professional look.
Summary: Great alternative to Copics
