“ Brand: Mirror & Magic / Type: Craft paper „
For my current art project I am manipulating mirror, but it seems impossible to find any proper mirror board. I have used up my school's stock and they don't know where they got it from as it was very very old. The closest thing I can find is this mirror card from Hobbycraft, which isn't truly reflective. If you know where I can get proper mirror board, please let me know!
This brand of mirror card comes in a big range of different colours and thicknesses. I chose the silver one to stay true to the property of mirror. In each pack, there are 5 sheets.
I was able to manipulate the card by cutting with scissors and a craft knife so it is pretty easy to cut. However, bending or folding results in some nasty creases so I would not advise raw folding. Scoring the place you want to fold before hand will help reduce the creases for a cleaner finish.
The nice thing about this paper is that it is glossy on one side which makes it slightly waterproof. Dried PVA glue can be wiped off with a wet cloth without damage to the mirror card surface.
When laid perfectly flat it reflects quite well but once bent, it is basically just a shiny piece of card with the reflections extremely vague and pretty much just reflects light and colour. Forms can no longer be seen. This is a shame as it defeats the whole purpose of mirrored card.
Each pack costs £5.99 which is ridiculously expensive but since my project is focussed on mirrors, buying this was imperative until I can get my hands onto something better.
