“ Brand: Play Doh „
My daughter, who has just turned five, has always been a big fan of Play Doh, and it is one of the few things that hold her attention for more than five minutes!
Back in the summer I bought a toy for another child in Argos, and as it was part of the store's 2 for £15 deal I decided to get this as well as a little treat for my Doh-loving daughter. She was delighted with it and we got stuck in straight away....
Let's make lollies
Inside the box are four small tubs of brightly coloured Play Doh, four plastic lolly sticks, two sets of lolly moulds and the lolly-making device itself, which is a strange looking contraption made completely from plastic and again in lots of bright colours. At the top is a plunger that you press, which squeezes together the two little 'arms' at the front. To the arms you can attach the different shaped lolly moulds. One is circular with a spiral design, and the other is a longer shape with grooves.
To make a lolly, you fix your chosen moulds onto the device, squash a big lump of Play Doh on to the top of one of the lolly sticks, place the stick into the base of the device and push down hard on the plunger! My daughter learnt to do this herself quickly, although it my be a bit trickier for slightly younger children, as you do need to give it a bit of welly!
When you release the plunger, the moulds separate and you're left with a lovely lovely shape on the top of the stick. There is sometimes a bit of Play Doh still stuck around the edges, but this is easy to remove, and doesn't damage the lolly itself.
A nice touch is that the base of the maker has tiny little shaped moulds all over it, so you can push small pieces of Play Doh into the shapes to make pretty toppings for the lollies you produce. This include little hearts and flowers, and these are very delicate and fun to make in themselves!
My daughter loves playing with this and has had hours and hours of fun with it. Whenever she has friends over this comes out, and even her older cousins have enjoyed playing this with her. She loves to make lollies and hand them out to everyone in the house, and imagine she is working in a lolly shop! An added bonus is that I quite enjoy playing with this too! It has been used a lot and we've never had any problems with the moulds or plunger - everything seems to work well.
Overall, I would really recommend this toy for children aged 4ish. It is fun and easy to use - and it's cheap too! At full price in Argos this costs £9.99 but is part of a 2 for £15 deal.
Highly recommended - and definitely a good option for Christmas!
