Advantages: good for role-play
Disadvantages: quite hard to use and mixes the Play-doh colours
Myself and my two children are big Play-doh fans. In fact, me more than them quite possibly. I love how you can be really creative with such a simple material. In my family, it has the potential to keep them occupied for hours without any tantrums or fights.
My children were bought this to share and it is kept in its original box so that all the parts stay together. I liked that it looked really fun with the bright colours and role-play aspect to it. It retails around the mark £21.99 but this I purchased from Boots in their 3-for-2 green parcel sticker promotion. It is played with about 3 times a week.
This set contains a little pizza oven which has a mould on top where you can squish (technical term from my 3 year old) the Play-doh into to form different shapes or toppings for your pizza. There are 12 different moulds all representing the various normal toppings of mushrooms, tomatoes etc. Great! I thought this would make the it great fun until you realise that you then have to try and scrape the Play-doh out of the moulds. This is not successful on most occassions and then it takes me some time after they have finished playing to get all of it out so that it doesn't dry up in there when packed away.
There is another part to this shop aswell. This contains a pizza pan which spins round at the bottom when the handle is turned at the top. This handle is removed first and then Play-doh is put inside. You then have to struggle to push it back on and locked into place. The whole thing is made from plastic which doesn't look that stong to me but, so far, it hasn't broken or snapped although there is a bit of creaking that goes on when this happens. The idea of this is to turn the handle and that pushes the Play-doh onto the pizza underneath whilst it cuts it. I think it is meant to look like grated cheese but, to be honest, it just looks like shaved Play-doh. Small pieces are not good for children either and do make quite a bit of mess. If you do buy this, make sure it is played with on a table and no where near the carpet as those small bits get everywhere. The handle is quite tricky to turn as the Play-doh seems to get stuck inside and it does make you have to hold on to the base with one hand and twist with the other. My 3 year old has difficulty with this even though this is designed for 3+ age range.
I'm not a very wasteful person and I've tried to teach my children that attitude aswell. My daughter has even commented that she can't help but get the Play-doh colours mixed up no matter how hard she tries to be careful. With this toy, definitely buy extra Play-doh to go with it as everything will start to look a not-so-appealing shade of brown within no time. This set does come with a larger tub of 'dough' colour and then 3 smaller tubs of red, green and white ~ in total 289g. My children do use their other colours as well as I am told pineapple is their favourite topping and you can't make that from those colours. Don't you just hate it when a 5 year old is always right?

In conclusion, this is a great idea and my children do enjoy playing with it but for the price that it is, I wish that I had just bought lots more 'normal' tubs of Play-doh and let them use their imagination and simple tools to make their own pizzeria. The kit does come with the pizza tools as such like the pizza wheel and they possibly use those much more than the actual oven part. Personally, I won't be buying another set of this kind from Play-doh. I have awarded it 2 stars purely because my children enjoy playing with it.
Summary: Don't buy it ~ just get more tubs of Play-doh and some tools
