Playmais is a childrens (or adults!!!) activity for modelling. Unlike playdough and plastersine it doesn't get sticky and go all over your nice cream carpet or all over the kids clothes!!!!!

Playmais looks like mulicoloured Wotsits, and they're made from pretty much the same thing! Maize.

Its very safe as its simply made with cornstarch and water, and its coloured with basic food colouring so its non toxic which is essential when letting your kids loose with it!!!

Its also very easy to use, all you do is wet the end of the wotsit type thing....so technical that...and this activates the starch making it sticky enough to stick to other things (windows, doors, cars, walls, tables or other playmais) this means you can make a pattern on surfaces (any mess will come away with warm water!) or you can make a model with the playmais.

This stuff is great fun for anyone, its especially great for kids as it encourages them to use their imagination and creativity to make something special and wonderful!! It can be reused as long as you can take it apart from the other pieces its stuck to without breaking it too much, but this isn't usually an issue, and so it can be used again. The pieces can also be cut, shaped, rolled etc to make any shape you like!

It is a little expensive at £4.99 for 89g (this isn't much net weight but as they're very light like polystyrene there are quite alot of pieces, around 200 but this isn't much for almost £5).

But it is fun, and like I said you can reuse it as long as you don't cut it up! And I'm sure you'd be able to get it cheaper from the likes of BnMs and Home Bargain if they had it in!

Summary: a great alternative to messy playdough!
