Glossy Accents is a 3 dimensional clear gloss and glue. It can be used to add a glossy finish to an embellishment and also provides protection as it dries hard or it be used as a standard glue and is especially useful for attaching heavier embellishments as it is very strong and dries quite quickly.
It is widely available in craft shops and online such as Amazon and comes in two different sizes .5 ounce for around £3.80 or 2 ounce for around £7.50. The glue/gloss itself is clear. It is also available in crackle finish to create a distressed look and in sepia.
I prefer the smaller sized bottle when using on very small areas as I find that whilst both bottles have the same size tip, the larger bottle due to the length of time it lasts often becomes clogged and has to be cut down so I save these bottles for use on larger areas and use the smaller bottles for more precise work.
I am always finding new uses for this gloss/ glue and rarely make a project without it. I like to use it as a standard glue when matting and layering, and to seal the ends of ribbons to prevent fraying. It is fantastic for adhering heavier embellishments both due to the strength of the glue and the fact that it dries quite quickly. I have even been known to use it for household minor repairs such as to ornaments and unlike with super glue you are unlikely to stick your fingers together.
I love to use it to add a glossy sheen to embellishments. It produces a beautiful finish and provides a protective layer as it dries hard. One thing to be aware of when using it in this way is that as you are using a thicker layer than with some of the other applications you need to allow sufficiently longer before it is touch dry. The other thing to consider is air bubbles - if you get any simple pop with a pin to ensure a smooth finish.
I also like to use this to highlight parts of an image- for example eyes, flower centres, shoes etc. These areas stand out due to the glossy finish and look three dimensional. This is particularly effective with decoupage. This glue can also be used over Stickles glitter glue. But you do need to make sure the glitter glue dries first and this looks absolutely stunning.
The only downsides to this glue are that if you get any on your work other than where you actually want it you will find it leaves a mark and will not rub off unlike some other glues. It is also quite expensive compared to other glues on the market, however I really do think it is worth it. It has become an essential item in my craft bag.
In most applications you only need a very small amount (the exception being covering a larger embellishment) and therefore a bottle does last really well.
This is my all time favourite glue and I cannot recommend it highly enough- it is a must for crafters but would be very useful for non-crafters too.
