Smencils

When I was in America for 10 days I had the usual task of rushing round the shops trying to find something for Little Miss. These pencils seemed a good present because although I they are probably sold all over in England, I have never seen them. Little Miss likes these kind of things, so these became one of her gifts (we call them guilt gifts because I was away and she was at school!)

**What are they?**

Basically they are pencils but with a difference- they smell! Not a nasty smell...my pack of 10 features Orange, Cherry, Bubble Gum, Peppermint, Fruit Punch, Watermelon, Grape, Pineapple, Root Beer, and Cinnamon. They do actually smell like the smell they are supposed to smell like, although the smell is slightly more pronounced when they are sharpened, which I would expect.

The pencils, are advertised as being super green because they are not made from wood - they're made from 100% recycled newspaper. Smencils sharpen the same as all other pencils, and are the same size and shape as other pencils, but they do smell better. Little Miss likes to sharpen them because not only is the smell released but you can see bits of the newspaper and she likes the fact that they are made of newspapers.

My pack of 10 smencils comes in a clear plastic pencil case type case and each pencil is in its own plastic case. None of this plastic casing is very environmentally friendly, but it does make for nice packaging

**Price and Availability**

I bought these in America and they cost $13.50 for 10 of the pencils in a case. I have since seen them on amazon for £5.99 for packs of 5.

**Verdict**

They were a hit. Little Miss is now allowed to take a pencil case into school, and these pencils have made their way into the pencil case, although she didn't use the plastic case they came in. She does try to keep them in their individual cases and I think she likes the novelty of them. They smell nice, and are just as effective as normal pencils for coloring in, because they have a nice soft point.

Great novelty pencils- I'm glad I bought them!
