      Advantages

      Disadvantages

Versatile, long lasting and durable dies.

Well actually they are not! This die set from Spellbinders allows you in conjunction with your die cutting machine to cut a variety of leaf shapes in absolutely any colour you like. You can cut a variety of materials including card, paper, acetate and vellum.

Spellbinders are well known in the craft world producing a range of dies, stencils and embossing folders as well as books and are regularly on Create and Craft TV and in craft magazines.

This die set is widely available in craft shops and online and costs £13.84 on the Amazon website. This set comprises 6 different metal leaf dies in a variety of shapes. These dies can be used in most die cutting machines including the Cuttlebug and Spellbinders Grand Calibur. To use you sandwich the dies in the cutting plates (according to the specific instructions of the machine you are using) as well as your card or other material and turn the handle to apply pressure. These dies can both cut and emboss. The dies themselves are not sharp and can safely be handled. Spellbinders dies are extremely durable and even with the constant use mine get they are still in pristine condition.

These dies are so versatile. They look lovely if you add glitter, glossy accents or ink. They are also stunning cut from glittered cardstock or Core'dinations cardstock and distressed.

They work really well in conjunction with other flower dies from the Spellbinders range or indeed other flower dies full stop. It looks really effective if you layer the leaves and flowers at different heights with foam pads to create depth. I like to use a ball tool on these leaves to create a more three dimensional shape.

These dies can also be used to create apertures or borders which looks really striking.

I have used these dies on a range or projects from cards to 3d quilled flower boxes- they really are very versatile and would also look lovely on scrapbook pages. You could even use the negative left after cutting out the leaf as a template for Zentangle or to create inked backgrounds to co-ordinate with your project.

This set is an extremely versatile and striking set, with a very good mix of leaf shapes and sizes which work well alone or with flower dies and the creative possibilities are endless. Highly recommend.
