Spellbinders are very well known in craft circles for producing beautiful dies and embossing folders with incredible detail for use in die cutting and embossing machines such as the Provocraft Cuttlebug or Spellbinders own Grand Calibur machine.
Spellbinders frequently have shows on Create and Craft TV and often appear in craft magazines. Their products are widely available in craft shops and online. This particular die, Blossom 2 costs around £18.
The die itself like all Spellbinders dies is metal. Whilst it is a cutting die it is perfectly safe to handle and will not cut you as it is the pressure of the die cutting machine which enables it to cut. To use you would layer with your card and appropriate plates for your die cutting machine (this varies according to the machine you are using) and turn the handle to allow the die, plates and card to pass through the machine and cut and emboss.
Whilst this die can be used to cut paper and vellum it really does work best with medium thickness card as this seems to keep a more defined flower shape once made up.
Once you have die cut and embossed the shape you simply pop out any of the holes which may not have fallen out and roll into a flower shape securing with a strong adhesive- I prefer to use Glossy Accents for this as it holds the shape very well and dries very quickly.

This die produces a beautiful and striking lace effect flower.
These flowers look lovely is you add glitter to them especially if just to the tips of the petals. I like to use clear Stickles Glitter Glue. They also look lovely if you add a little Glossy Accents.
This flower is so versatile and I have yet to find a project or theme that it does not look beautiful on. It has been used on wedding, engagement, congratulations, mothers day, birthday and get well soon projects to name but a few.
What I love about this die is that you can colour match your embellishment to your project. This is not always the case if you have pre brought flower embellishments as you are limited by the colours in your pack which may not be a good match.
This die looks stunning both on its own or with other dies such as the Spellbinder leaf dies or other Spellbinder flower dies.
Another use I have found for this die is to use it to make an embellishment to go on presents rather than the rosettes you can buy. This is a great way of using up scraps of card, decorating presents and saving money.
The only downside of this die is the price. However if you consider how much it costs for ready made flower embellishments, and that you can make as many as you like and colour match to your project with this die then it really is a must have.
This is one of my absolute favourite flower dies, it really is so versatile and can be used on so many different projects. I find that Spellbinders die as very durable and last a really long time (I've never had one give up the ghost yet- even with the very very frequent use this one gets). This is a really stunning and beautiful die and I highly recommend it.
