My eldest daughter was bought a couple of things from Tescos own arts and crafts range for her birthday recently and this was one of the sets. Like I say it is Tesco's own so that is the only place you can buy the set either in store or online, the set costs £6 which is a decent price in my opinion.

The set comes packaged in a strong cardboard box, it is mainly pink in colour and made to look girly, the set states that it is for children aged 5 and up. When you lift the lid on the cardboard box all the pieces are laid out flat inside the box and they are held in place in a cardboard insert so they don't crash against each other and smash.

Inside the set you get 4 cups, 4 plates, 4 saucers, a tea pot and lid, a sugar pot and a lid and finally a milk jug, along with the pieces to paint you get a set of 6 paint pots but surprisingly there was no paint brush which seemed a little poor.

We set Sophie up with a pinny and paper to put the pieces on as she painted, I opened all 6 pots of paint for her as the lids were very stiff and even I struggled to get some of them open. The paints we got were white, green, purple, yellow and 2 different shades of pink, each paint was thick and good quality but there was only a small pot of each one.

Sophie set about painting the pieces, the paint went on well and dried pretty evenly even with her uneven brush strokes, initially she planned on painting the pieces and then adding some flowers and swirls onto them. We actually found that there was nowhere near enough paint to do any extra decoration on the pieces and infact there was only just to ay enough to paint the pieces themselves. You are obviously meant to be able to add extras to the pieces as there was a stencil included in the set to do so, Sophie ended up using her own paints to add some extra bits.

Sophie spent a good hour painting the pieces and was even patient waiting for them to dry to be able to turn the pieces to paint the other sides. The paints dried out pretty quickly but the temperature was pretty high on the day she painted so this will have contributed to the drying rate.

The set looks pretty good and Sophie was really pleased with what she had created, the girls both insist on playing with the set and pretend they are having a tea party which is nice however as these are made of pot they are likely to get broken. I have let the girls keep playing with the set as it is pointless just having it for show to gather dust and they have both been warned they will smash easily but so far all the pieces are still intact.

This set should have come with more paints than what it did although what was with it was great quality, Sophie had fund with the set and they both have fun playing with it since and of course it's decent value too, 4 stars for this set from us.
