Toys R Us Sit N Draw Creativity Desk
Advantages: Easy to assemble, clean and use. A place to put your crayons, and light weight, not to big or small
---- INTRODUCTION ----
I decided a couple of years ago I was going to get Ethan a desk for him to sit at whilst doing his drawing and colouring etc. I was looking at a few before I actually decided on this one; with requirements in mind this one was ideal for him. I didn't want something to bulky as his room is small, nothing to heavy to lift in case he wanted to bring it downstairs, and something that was hard wearing and easy to clean, and I have to say this desk ticked all them boxes, and was on offer at the time of buying it.
---- PACKAGING & ASSEMBLY ----
The packaging was a large box with the picture of the desk on the front, but if I was buying it somewhere where I didn't see the desk before hand I wouldn't of bought it as the box told me that the desk was most probably going to be a little big and bulky for his room. Getting the desk out the box there was assembly to be made before he could use it, this didn't take long and wasn't difficult to do, the drawing board and seat just clipped on to the legs and there you have it, I haven't tried our easy it would be into dismantling it again as I haven't had the need to do it.
---- ABOUT THE DESK ----
I have to say Ethan loved this desk and to this day he still sits at it to do his writing, drawing and anything else creative. The desk itself is made from hard tough plastic so is very hard wearing; I know this because Ethan has pushed it downstairs once or twice when wanting it from upstairs into the front room, and hasn't been marked in anyway.
The desk is just the right size for him to sit at and is very comfortable when sitting there, it saves him from being on the floor and being cold and uncomfortable, which then breaks the concentration of what he is doing. It is very light weight and is easy to transfer to different rooms if need be, although like I have mention Ethan just seems to push it downstairs, good job I bought this one and not a wooden one.
It is very easy to clean either with the standard baby wipes or soapy water, as you know with kids they are mucky pups when using crayons or paints and get everywhere, so just a quick wipe takes away all the paints, crayon, and even dirt marks from the desk.
The drawing board slightly tilts towards Ethan which helps with the easiness of doing his writing and drawing, nothing tends to fall off the edge apart from crayons and pencils he was to leave them on the board. At the top of the board you will find 2 holes to fit the accessories into, which are small cups, this will enable to place your crayons, pencils or paints in them whilst at the desk keeping them safe and not all spread across the floor, you also have a dip in the board at the side of the cups to place anything like brushes, rulers, or even crayons, if they wish.
The seat is big enough for 2 small children as I know when Ethan cousin comes to play they sit together on it, this is a rough guide to how big the seat is, but does depend on the average child. Ethan sits at the desk almost every day as he loves doing writing, drawing and colouring, and can sit there for hours, and enjoys it. You can buy the desk in different colours and even cartoon characters, but because Ethan was not into anything particular we got him a plain one, seat being yellow, board green and the frame blue, although has decorated it with stickers.
---- AVAILABILITY & PRICE ----
I bought this one from toys r us, the desk was ½ price offer as it was around Christmas time when we bought it, it was knocked down from £29.99 to just £14.99, so I was very pleased with that. You can buy the desk from Argos - £24.99; I cannot find it in toys r us now so I am not sure if they are not selling it anymore.
---- FINAL THOUGHTS ----
I have to say I am very pleased with the desk, it as lasted Ethan a couple of years now still plays with it, so it as been value for money. I liked the fact that it was easy to assemble and not to big and bulky to fit in his room. I am also glad that I managed to get it when it was ½ price although I still would have bought it if it wasn't, it's a great item to buy your little ones especially if they are into drawing, writing or colouring. I have to say I am glad I bought this one, instead of the wooden one with the way he throws this downstairs as the wooden one would have been in pieces and won't be as easy to clean as this one is either.
