“ Brand: Tsukineko / Type: Craft Supplies „
As I love stamping I could not resist buying some of the Tsukineko Dauber Duos when I spotted them in our local craft shop. They are double ended, pigment ink daubers in co-ordinating shades. The dauber itself is black and about as thick as a pen, with different shades or colours at each end. Each end has a clear removable lid.
The Ink daubers contain pigment ink and can be used for stamping and stencilling; the daubers allow precise application to small areas- and they can be used to colour different parts of a stamp rather as well as applying block colour.
There are a lovely range of colours and shades and each dauber lasts very well, my favourites have been used very frequently and even after some months are still going strong. As the they are small and compact they are much easier to store than ink pads, and their lower cost enables you to have a lovely collection of colours.
They are widely available in craft shops and online, and costs around £2 each.
I highly recommend these they are easy to use, low cost and have a beautiful range of colours and be used for small and precise areas.
Dauber Duos are small, pen like ink pads.
I find them useful for ink on rubber stamps as the small end means you can ink different areas of the stamp different colours. For example, I have done a coloured rose by inking the flower red and the stem green. This wouldn't have been possible with a standard ink pad as you wouldn't be able to see where the ink was going or be precise enough to make a tidy ink print.
The Dauber Duo is double sided with a small round ink pad on each side. Usually the colours are both similar or different shades of the same colour. The Duos can be bought in a variety of colours. I haven't had a colour I needed that wasn't a Dauber Duo.
The ink is just like the ink you'd get from an ink pad but the pad part is a lot spongier than some ink pads. This makes it easy for the ink to come out but you have to be careful not to push too hard otherwise too much ink will be released.
Each end has a clear plastic lid so you can see exactly what colour your getting. This is important as some ink pads will show a colour on the front and be a different shade inside.
The lids stay on well and as a result the inks haven't dried out. This is vital as it's no good having a dry ink pad.
I have found these very useful for rubber stamping but it could also be used for stencilling.
Tsukineko Dauber Duos are best described as mini ink pads in a little pen-like shape. At each end of the Dauber is a little ink pad and each Dauber has 2 colours. They always come in complimenting colours such as Silver & Gold, Black & White, Royal Blue & Lavender, Petal Pink & Orchid, etc. I think I have just about ever colour going!
I spotted these a couple of years ago when buying some rubber stamps. I have found that you don't always get a good coverage on the rubber stamp when using a pad, no matter how hard you press, plus you can only really use the one colour when using an ink pad (unless you have one of those funky rainbow pads). So I decided to try these Dauber Duos.
They retail for about £2.25 and so they're no more expensive than bog-standard ink pads. They come in many colours (as I said before, you get 2 colours per Dauber Duo), so I picked up a handful and came home to try them out with some new rubber stamps.
As they are small you can use a few different colours to "ink" a rubber stamp. For instance, I have a flower stamp, so I used my selection of Dauber Duos to ink the stamp - using red and pink to do the petals, yellow to do the centre and green to do the stem and leaves. I then pressed it the stamp onto the card and got a pretty flower image. Now, try doing that with your normal ink pad!
The ink pads on the Dauber Duos are very moist so you'll have no problem inking your stamps. You can also ensure full ink coverage without pressing too hard.
I originally found these in my local craft shop, but have also ordered them from thestampbug.co.uk in the past.
If you're a crafty person I'll sure you'll love these!
Practical for embossing or stenciling and will also ink any size stamp.
