Twistable Crayon - Crayola
Advantages: good quality, nice colours, easy to use
Disadvantages: none for us
As many of my sons colouring things were past their best I decided to get him some new ones as stocking fillers last Christmas. I trust the Crayola brand and if I am honest prefer it to any others I have tried and so I naturally looked to them. One of the products I chose was the Crayola twistable crayons.
There are twelve twistable crayons in the pack I chose for my son but I know you can get bigger sets than this in a plastic carry case. The set I bought came in a thin plastic wallet which you could certainly keep them in if you looked after it but my son keeps his in his pencil case with all of his other colouring things.
In this set of twelve twistable crayons there is a good selection of colours including black, brown, purple, red, orange, greens, blues and a peachy coloured one too. My son was happy to see the flesh coloured crayon as he likes to draw people sometimes and likes to use it to colour in their faces! I would say as a basic set of crayons the colours are comprehensive really and I see no reason why a child would need a different colour than those included for the most part.
Now the clue is in the name with this product really but the idea is that you twist the crayon up when you need to do so there is no need for peeling back paper or sharpening the crayons as you go along. The crayons come in a long hard plastic tube which is slightly fatter than a normal pencil but around the same height I would say. The colour of the tube is the same as the colour of the crayon inside which is helpful when you need to find them in the pencil case.
My son finds the crayons easy to hold and has no trouble colouring with them but I would say that the crayon top is fatter than the lead in the twistable pencils or his felt tip pens, which is the case with normal crayons and pencils anyway, so he does tend to use these for larger areas where he can be a bit less accurate and for more intricate work he uses the pen or pencils. The crayons don't appear to be waxy either which my son likes as wax crayons can leave an almost messy look but these ones don't do that.
A pack of twelve Crayola twistable crayons costs £2.99 on amazon and this includes free super saver delivery. Whilst this isn't very cheap when you compare it with crayons from the supermarket or something I do feel that they are worth the price as they are high quality and last really well too. I think they are a great addition to a child's art and craft products and I would certainly recommend them.
Thank you for reading my review!
Summary: A really good product
