Advantages: great for tiny hands

Disadvantages: paint came off handles

I do think that it is important to learn to be creative at an early age. I hated art at school as mine was so poor the teacher would often hold mine up as an example of how bad a picture could be. It took me a long time after leaving school to have any confidence in drawing and this is not how I wanted it to be for my son. I wanted him to start to enjoy drawing and painting as soon as he was able to.

The brushes were easy to wash and no bristles have come out when washing.

I bought this paint brush set for my son when he was eighteen months old as he had just started painting.

The pack contains 3 small bristle paint bushes with multi coloured bristles and three sponges two shaped like ice lolly's and one round sponge. The sponges are also different colours so very attractive to young eyes

These are currently available from Wilkinson's for only £1.25 per pack.

My experience

I put a cloth under his table which I moved into the middle of the room as I don't want my wall repainting at the moment.

My son found the large handles easy to hold and created some mater pieces that only a mother can admire. He did find it easy to load the brushes with paint.

He does get very tempted to bite the sponges but he never uses them without supervision for obvious reasons.

He has used the round sponge the most which creates dots all over the paper.

He uses the big paint brushes to paint his hands as well as big splodges on the paper.

These are ideal as a starter paint brush. I do think as children's painting skills improve they would want something smaller for more defined pictures.

The only one problem I have found is that the handles of the sponges the outside painting has come off leaving bare wood which doesn't look very attractive but they do still work the same.

I would recommend these for young children as a way to introduce painting. A great way to get your little one's getting creative.

Summary: A useful tool to start your little one painting
