      3D Christmas Tree's

      I recently purchase loads of art & crafts item for my nephew to enjoy on the run up to Christmas. Most of these were things such as Sequins, Pom Poms, Jingle bells and things that could put into baubles or that could be stuck onto pictures. As soon as I saw these I thought they were a great idea and it would be something slightly different to do as well. I purchased the foam kits from the Yellow Moon website, which cost me £3.95 for a pack of 4. I thought this was very reasonable and I wish I had purchased 2 packs now. Each tree kit comes in an individual bag and contains the following items:

      * Pre-cut foam tree shape x 2
      * Pre-made foam pot x 1
      * Pre-cut large yellow star x 1
      * Pre-cut star chain x 1
      * Small bag of mixed sequins
      * Small rectangle sheet of white pre-cut foam circles x 1
      * Small rectangle sheet with pre-cut shapes on x 1 (There should be 1 each of blue, pink, orange and purple)
      * Sheet of basic instructions x 1

      Although I thought the trees were pretty much self-explanatory I decided to have a quick glance at the instructions anyway. The instructions tell you to make the tree up and stand it in its flowerpot and then decorate, how-ever I thought it would be much easier to decorate the tree first and then slide the tree together. My nephew had one tree to decorate and I had another one to do. I had to help him peel some of the backing sheets off the foam shape; how-ever he really enjoyed sticking them on the tree to decorate them. The shapes included a star, bauble, candy cane and bell for the tree. As they were in different colours it brightened the tree up and made it look colourful. The small white foam circles can be used on the tree as well. The sequins can stick on the tree using PVA glue, how-ever it's best to leave it over-night to dry. Me & my nephew also added some glitter glue to the tree to make it sparkle a little and to give it some more colour. Once we had decorated the tree we attached the string of foam stars around the pot and then we left the tree over-night so the glue could dry.

      The following morning my nephew couldn't wait to finish the tree he had decorated. The tree slots together easily using the pre-cut slots and it then inserts into the red pot to ensure that it stays upright. If you need to, you can secure the tree in the pot with some glue. The finishing touch to the tree is to simply slot the large yellow star on the top. We also added a little glitter to this too to make it sparkle. The tree is approximately 14cm in height so is a nice size for people to notice. My nephew was extremely pleased with his finished tree and couldn't wait to take it home to show mummy & daddy. I gave him the other 2 trees so he could decorate them at home as everything he needed was included in the kit anyway apart from some glitter and the glue. Not only my nephew enjoyed making and decorating these but I did too. You could stick various different things to the tree such as pom poms, glitter and small jingle bells. I would definitely purchase these again for next year and I am also very tempted to purchase some of the other 3D foam kits that they do on the Yellow Moon website. Not all of these are Christmas designs so children can have fun all year round making different things. Due to small parts such as the small foam pieces and sequins I would not recommend these for children under the age of 3 and would also recommend supervision when using the kits with young children. These are great fun & I highly recommend them to others.
