Disappointing -- promises not kept

I signed up to aucland on the basis of a promise of a free top ten CD of my choice for signing up.
I went through a fairly complex sign up then "bought" the CD in a fixed price auction with the repeated assurance that although I would receive an e-mail saying that I would be billed seven pounds that I should ignore it and that the CD was indeed free.
Well, I never had to pay the seven pounds but I never recieved the CD either.
A week or two later, I noticed that aucland no longer had this offer on its front page and from the comments about the supplier of CDs it looked as though there a lot of other frustrated people who had signed up too.
I then tried to stop getting e-mail from aucland. They have no simple mechanism for stopping it and it took some back and forth correspondence with aucland before I got them to close my account.
