Ebay is without doubt the best online auction site there is.
Formed by Pierre Omidyar and originally known as AuctionWeb has gone from strength to strength. Now operating in multiple countries all over the globe.
Whether you're looking for a bargain or your a collector there is something for you.
Ebay is also a great place to sell things wheteher you want to sell some junk that you no longer want or you want to make some extra money or a full time living then I would definetely recommend Ebay as the first place you shold go. If you are looking to make a living from Ebay then it is possible to create a shop online with monthly/ yearly fees.
Navigation of the site is quite easy, with categories and advanced search engine easily accessible.
Once you start to get used to the buying and selling of Ebay it is easy to get addicted and you could quite easily find yourself searching through your attic for things to sell or buying random things to boost your feedback.
The feedback system on Ebay is excellent. Buyers and sellers rate each other after a transaction and can leave either positive, negative or neutral feedback, plus a comment to go with it.
Feedback is calculated into a percentage of positives eg, 100% positive. This is an easy way to see if your experience with a buyer or seller is going to be a pleasnat one or one to avoid.
And as mentioned in a comment below sellers can no longer leave negative feedback for buyers, this is to try and provide buyers with an opportunity to say what they really think without getting a negative feedback in return.
However, if you do run into problems the customer care is excellent. Quick replies to any problems or questions and buyer protection from Paypal means Ebay is a safe place to buy and sell. (Buyers are generally given the benefit of the doubt during and disputes)
The fees on Ebay are quite reasonable and free listing days, etc are often held.
So if you are one of the few people who have not got an account or at least visited then you should make this your top priority.

- 04/10/08 Good review but sellers can no longer leave negative feedback for buyers - an anomaly which has led to some buyers being extremely unreasonable and even cheating the system. I would add that I can't remember when the last free listing day was - ah they were great! |
