Advantages: buy bargains, sell junk, make money
Disadvantages: fees are slightly high
Ebay is a fantastic auction site to pick up some cracking bargains as well as sell any unwanted items and make some cash.
Ebay is an auction site, you simply register your details and your off. To buy items is simple, you just search through the catorgries or do a quick search and find what you want. When you have found an item you like, you simply click on make a bid enter the max you are willing to pay and wait till the auction finishes to see if you have won. If during the auction you get outbidded you will then recieve a email telling you giving you the chance to increase your bid of find something else. With a lot of items at just 99p or less you can often grab a bargain. Each member has a feedback rate so you can check to see if they are a honest seller as well meaning you are less likely to be conned. If you win the auction you will tehn recieve an invoice with the choice of ways the seller lets you pay, simply pay, wait for your item to arrive then leave relevant feedback.
Ebay is also great as a seller whether you intend to sell big style and start up your own business or simply just want to sell a few bits and pieces to make a little money, to fund your next ebay purchase. Selling is also simple. Just click sell, choose the catogry you wish to place your item in, add a header, picture and description, follwed by the starting price/buy it now price, duration of auction and postage costs. Then click list the item and you will be able to follow its progress in your account, watching any bids on, the number of people watching it, or answering any questions people have. The fees for selling items are changing a lot at the minute, mainly due to the credit crunch as people are having less cash and things just dont seem to be selling as well.
To list the item it depends on a varity of factors, such as starting price, whether its auction or buy it now, quantity and special features you want, etc. For basic 99p auctions fees are only 10p with 10% taken from the final selling fee. If you have a bulk load of the same best to do buy it now as the prices have been slashed in this area giving a much better deal. You can now least as many items, up to 30days at whatever price you want for a one off fee of 40p, a final 10% will be deducted from the selling value.
Although the fees are going up I still use to sell a lot as something is better then nothing in my opinion. It is a well known site and particulary at this time of year with the ways things are think it will be very popular for buying cheap xmas presents.
Summary: a great site for making a bit of money or saving some moeny on a bargain
