Advantages: sell your unwanted items
Disadvantages: easily ripped off
I have been using ebay for about 5 years and became a very reputable seller with a high rating. My products were specialised for collectors, and actually I became a swapper, rather than a seller, buying coins, and if i liked them i kept them, if i didn't i sold them.
However, someone managed to get into my site and order some items that i hadn't. I told ebay and they suspended my site. Despite the fact that I coud, and did identify myself, beyond the requirements that a bank would need, they, ebay, wouldn't re-open my account without me sending copies of my passport, or other personal items through the post, or by fax. How ridiculous, and how insecure can your thinking you get. i tried explaining this to them about a dozen times but their so-called customer service people are quite useless. after wasting several hours on several separate weekends trying to get the account back, I just opened another, using a new email address and off I went. What a waste of time, or was it? actually for them it was very good news that I had to start again, because I was forced to use Paypal whereas before I wouldn't touch this crappy so-called buyer protection service. What a way to add revenue for one of their subsidiaries by jepordising the security of their customers.
Summary: stop using these money grabbing so and so's
