Advantages: Huge Selection of Products, Detailed Photos
Disadvantages: High seller Fees, Lots of competition
I have been a member of eBay for four whole years and have used it regularly (pretty much weekly) for the whole of that period. Ebay provides an absoloutely amazing number of potential buyers to sellers listings, and whilst seller charges are high, so are sales volumes, and so eBay is good for both buyers and sellers alike.
*The Listings*
You type in your search term, and eBay will bring up however many thousand matches it finds, which you can then browse through. It allows you to sort the items according to their relevancy, their time left on eBay, or their price. The search facility is easy to use and very user friendly, so plus points here. Listings offer a description, picture and a link to either buy the item, or place a bid on the item. I believe you can also now place classified adverts, although I do not have much experience with these.
*The Feedback system*
I cannot decide whether I like or dislike the alterations eBay made to this, because whilst before buyers and sellers could potentially leave negative feedback for each other, it is now only buyers that can leave negative feedback. On the one hand, this prevents retaliation feedback to innocent buyers who have been conned by sellers who do business poorly, but on the other, it allows buyers to occasionally take advantage of sellers. I do like the eBay feedback system on the hole, and I'm aiming for agreen star, as green is my favourite colour. Only trouble is, I have some trading to do, to reach that 5000 transaction goal!
Overall, eBay is great, it's especially good for buyers, but is also pretty good for sellers aswell, despite the competition and high fees. I would recommend an eBay account to anyone that is considering one.
Summary: I think it's great!
