Advantages: Cheaper than buying from shops in general

Disadvantages: Exensive selling fees, sellers can';t leave negative feedback

One of the major flaws of ebay are the various charges it imposes on sellers. It takes quite a big chunk out of the overall selling price of items, thus, dramatically reducing the money you make. For this reason I never sell on ebay, and limit myself to buying, as I don't see that point in making a £1 and having 25% of it taken off me. 75p is hardly worth it!

My buying experiences on ebay however have been excellent. I've never had problems with sellers, and some have been extremely helpful towards me. I've bought DVDs to cake tins, cards to even food.

My most fantastic buy was my prom dress. Most people would probably be wary of buying an item of clothing as important as an occassion dress off an aucton website. I agree, you do have to be careful who you buy items off, and I made sure I was able to return it if it didn't suit me. I bought it in two different colours, and the seller was happy to combine postage to make it cheaper for me. I kept one, an absolutely stunning puffball, midnight blue, above the knee dress, and sent the burgundy back. I'd definately deal with this seller again.

I do think it's unfair on sellers now that they are unable to leave negative feedback on buyers. Buyers can easily mess sellers around, not pay for goods, etc. and now sellers have no power over them. I do wonder if this will have put some people off from selling on ebay in the future.

I do think it's a really clever idea, and clearly a heck of a lot of people use it, but I do think fees should be cheaper!
