Ebay.co.uk review (ebay.co.uk)

Advantages: Cheap things available, get rid of unwanted things Disadvantages: Not very reliable Ebay.co.uk is a online website where you get to bid on and buy unwanted items of other people, or you can sell any of your own unwanted items! Some business do use ebay to sell there products as well, but i find that normally it is cheaper to get a brand new product off a business from amazon.co.uk, however if you do not mind having a second hand item, or buying the item of a person rather than a business, the ebay is cheaper. The best way to pay for items on ebay is to use paypal, as it offers some protection from people who send either the wrong item, or no item at all. Ebay however has some disadvantages to it. The quality of the goods being sent is very unreliable, as one persons description of good condition, may vary from your own. Also it is possible for people to sell you something, collect a payment, and then cancel their account, thus allowing them to get away with your money. Another slight problem with ebay is the fact that as it is a bidding site, in order to ensure that you get the item, you have to keep checking through out the day to see if you are still winning, and even then you can be outbid at the last minute. My advice is not to bother bidding on things that are more than 5 hours from their finish time, that way you can avoid disappointment, and also, say if there are two products of the same type, e.g. 2 psp's, you can bid on the one that finishes soonest, and if you are outbid at the last second, you can make the same bid on the other psp, rather than just being able to make only one bid on one of the psp's as you cannot afford both of them in the off chance that you win both of the bids. Another tip is that if two products that are the same or are similar end at a similar time (within around a minute), bid for the one that has the longest time till the end of the bid, as most people will try last minute on the one that ends soonest, and this way you reduce the amount of bidders that you are likely to compete with. If you are putting things on ebay, try to make it so that the bidding ends around 6ish to 7 in the evening, as that is when most people will be able to bid on it, and therefore you are more likely to get a good price! Please note that ebay take a commission on each sale, plus 25 p, plus 10p for the picture. Summary: Good site overall, but tread carefully |
