I have been connected to eBay both as a seller as well as buyer.
My experience are so far good except for two occasions. eBay is a nice austion site. Millions of item sell and buy daily.

Selling at eBay:
To become seller here you should have verified Paypal account to send and receive the payments or credit card linked to Paypal account.
Procedure: Once have Paypal account one can list the item . Item could be any thing .It can be used or new. To sell any item (from car to hair pin) one have to fill the form. The listing of item cost depend upon the item . The form will let us know how much the item listing cost (even the sale is not been through).
Ones the item is listed . It will on sale and open for bidding for seven days. After seventh day the higher bidder wins the item.
If one thinks the price is too low it can remove from listing but have to pay the listing fee which is not too much.
If the sale is gone through the buyer pays the fee to Paypal account as instructed.
The buyer and seller can contact each other through email (hotmail, yahoo etc and also eBay email form).
eBay charge the fee from final value (listing fee+ total value of sale price)
Paypal deduct the fees from the total amount as well .

In the end seller got rid of unwanted item and earn hard cash. The other thing is eBay has so many buyers and it is not difficult selling any thing there. People buy any thing.

Buying:

It is not difficult buying here . eBay buyer should have Paypal account only. Ones a higher bidder it's a choice to buy or not. If wants to buy the item pay using Paypal account and get the item .

Beware : some times fraud people bid and after receiving item reverse the payment. To avoid this risk always check the payment is full and should not be exceeding a penny . Buyer can charge back get the money back for exceeding amount. If some one pay more than asked it means they are fraud.
