I was afraid of ebay at first because I thought I would get scammed but after using a few times to buy some unique items no other sites sold I was hooked. Theres no need to be worried like I was because you're protected in so many ways so if that was putting you off to no need to read on more just go!

Security
If you pay with paypal you are completly protected during payment and it genraly makes all things money related eaiser so you definatly want this. Feedback is a good way of judging the seller, it tells you what other buys experiances were and if you don't like the look of them then you can look somewhere else. Your name is never shown either if your worried about that you use a screen name so people don't know exactly who you are.

Sellers
There are a few diffrent types of auctions. The first is regular, the seller sets a start price and a end date and who ever has higest bid in the end wins. This is usually the one where people get into bidding wars and send the price rocketing. The second is buy now where you can choose to buy whatever now but usualy at a high price, sometimes this has a best offer section attaches to it so you can try and haggel but if you're not in a hurry its worth trying to bid in my opinion. Make sure you check the postage aswell sometimes the postage is high to cover what the seller migh loose in the bidding war, its not a bargin if you pay 99p for a CD with £15 postage!

Buying
Like said said before you can buy a lot of unique itmes on ebay that no other shops sell so if you're into a very specfic hobby this is the place to go. You can also sometime grab real bargings on main stream products like I do with DVDs, some times you can get chart DVDs the day after relase for about £3 - £6 or CDs etc. Sometimes you can contact a seller via email to try and covince him to sell it to you privetly but I have never done this because there isn't a need, just thought you might find it useful.

Selling
I have no experinace selling but after a bit of research I found out you can controll how much to start the itme at, when the auction is to end, how much postage is and what you display about the item. You also have to pay to display more that a few images and also ebay take comission. I suggest researching for your self what days are good days to end itmes on etc because I've been told it matters, so play it right you could make loads.

Overall I think everyone should be on this site to buy or sell as you could make a lot of money selling and get great bargins buying and also everyone would find something they wanted and would be happy. It can become addictive and you could buy lots of junk you don't need just because you can, so only buy things you want and do a lot of searching before you decide to buy an item.

Summary: check it out, its worth while.
