I am sure nearly everyone on here has at some point either sold or bought an item through ebay.

I do both. I started of just buying as I wasn't sure about selling, how did I get paid for the items, how did I pay ebay for using the service, how did I ensure that the buyer received what they had bought....I had loads of questions.

However when I started to look at what I was throwing out or sending to charity shops I though I would give it a try as some of my stuff seemed pretty good.

It is as easy as it is made out to be. When you are selling just remember to accept Paypal as it makes it easier to get your payment, also if you are selling low cost items then check out whether it would be better to open a Micro Payments account with Paypal as you pay less charges this way.

I find that with buying on ebay I need to be very strict with myself. If I see something that I might like going for a few pence I bid on it, then I end up bidding and bidding until it is mine...even if I have paid way over the odds...I tend to get caught up in the thrill of bidding and winning.

With both buying and selling remember to be polite and email the other party if you have any questions, don't just leave bad feedback.

Enjoy your ebay experience but be careful with expensive purchases, and try and limit yourself. One good saying I came across somewhere on ebay was...

Bid high, Bid late, Bid Once.

If you enter your highest bid near the end of the auction then do not try and beat the other person bidding against you....it's ebay, another one will be along soon...
